Melbourne number one with(out) a bullet

Unless you have been hiding under a rock you would have seen in the news that Melbourne has recently been voted the world’s most liveable city according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s latest survey.

I am only mentioning this to keep Marcus happy though we country bumpkins in the west didn’t do too badly coming in at number eight!

It is the first time in almost 10 years that Vancouver is not at the top of the list and the reason it has slipped is because it lost points in the infrastructure category which is one of the sections measured.

Melbourne scored a possible 97.5 per cent across all of the categories which included political and social stability, crime rates, access to quality health care, cultural events, the environment, education and the standard of infrastructure.

I always thought the fact that I could go to a show and hit the shops while my husband headed to “The G” was worth a few points.
